OUR PASTOR
Reverend Leon B. Morehead is the perpetually proud Pastor of the New Grace Missionary Baptist Church of Highland Park, Michigan. Prior to accepting the call to become the 6th Pastor in the magnificent history of the New Grace Missionary Baptist Church on June 26, 2022, he was a lifelong member of the Greater New Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church and the Executive Minister.
Our Pastor was blessed since childhood to stand under the leadership of Reverend Dr. Benjamin L. Hooks and Reverend Robert Joe Page and continued under the tutelage of Pastor Reverend Kenneth James Flowers. After Pastor Morehead accepted his call into the preaching ministry, He gave his initial sermon in May 2007. Pastor Morehead emphatically served as Youth Minister, cultivating a thriving multi-faceted approach to connecting with the youth as well as families. In May of 2016 Rev. Leon was elevated to Executive Minister of Greater New Mount Moriah, a position held until the special assembly of believers at New Grace heeded the Lord’s direction to have him as their under shepherd.
Rev. Leon Morehead graduated from Rochester University where he received a degree in Biblical Studies. He is also a proud graduate of Great Lakes Christian College where he received a degree in Family Life Education. His passion for uplifting the community allows him to sit on educational advisory boards, a nonprofit board of directors and receive commission appointments. Our Pastor has also traveled across the country speaking passionately about those same subjects, including in 2016 at The White House for My Brother’s Keeper initiative.
Leon is extremely blessed to be married to Maleika since 2002 and together they are the parents of two, Leon Jr. and Moriah.
